Depicting Mid-19th Century Boy and Girl

SIZE: 5-1/2" tall; Base Diameter of 2-1/2"

CONDITION: Damage to LID. 2 surface chips seen on pattern side. Rim surface chipping on underside rim. Was broken in half & re-stuck nicely. The CHOCOLATE POT is without damage from little hands. A manufacturing shrinkage crack can be seen where handle was applied at the top (not visible on normal display).

POTTER & MARKS: Not identified. No marks. Heavy earthenware and romantic transfers of childhood. Boy freeing a bird from a birdcage was a popular Victorian symbol. Could be Continental. Exposed clay on the lid underside is very white.
