Antique Cobalt Blue Hermann Steinbuch Apothecary Jar
The pictures show an antique Cobalt Blue Hermann Steinbuch Apothecary Jar from the 1880’s. It’s about 9-3/4 inches from bottom to the top of the stopper. The octagon top stopper measures 3-1/4 Inches across to seal an opening about 2-1/4 Inches across. This is a large stopper.
The name “Lactosium” is on what appears to be an applied white enamel shield framed in gold.
The overall condition is excellent, save for a tiny chip at one of the corners of the stopper and a crack in the glass running right to left at the bottom of the back side. I show several views.
My thinking is that in this day and age there must be a laser Dr. out there who can seamlessly seal the crack right up. In the mean time, the jar makes an excellent accent in any pharmacy or doctor’s office, or a very worthwhile addition or marker to a Lactosium deficient collection of these particular pharmacy jars.
