This little ironing board was mine when I was a little girl about 5 years old. I am now almost 54 -- so I guess it to be around 50 years old as my mom said they got it used. I remember playing with it a lot and having a good time being "like mommy." My granddaughter played with it for a while but has now lost interest in it. I have to purge some of the treasures I've accumulated so I hope this little ironing board will find a new home where it will be treasured. I think it was originally blue but it was spray painted this bright red "rust proof" paint at some point. It has survived the years well and is in very good shape. It folds up and down and stays up with a bracket that clicks into the other part. It doesn't wobble or fall over. Very sturdy. It measures 22" tall, the board part is 8 1/4" at the wide end and 26" long. The only real wear it shows is on top of the board you can see a bit of roughness where it probably had some peeling paint and it was just spray painted with the red without being sanded down. It is all metal. No markings on it. A word of caution: this was made at least in the 50's so it would not pass today's standards for safety. I know for a fact it could pinch a little finger if it was in the way while folding or unfolding! So I would consider it a collector's item and not really for play. I also have the original "real" electric iron too but it is in a separate listing in case you are interested. Check out my other items! |
