These ELEGANT 6-inch bread plates are white with 2 thin gold bands toward the inside of the plate, followed by a thicker gold band featuring a black diamond and dot pattern toward the outside edge, and finally another thin gold band around the very outer edge. (I do not know the name of the pattern.)
They were made by IMPERIAL CROWN CHINA AUSTRIA, which, according to my reading, is highly collectible.
To quote a website source:
The Imperial Crown China, Austria, backstamp was the pottery mark of a decorator and importer as distinct from a manufacturer. It was the mark of Bawo and Dotter, who basically decorated greenware and blanks at their studio in Fischern, which was then in a region known as Bohemia now called Rybare, Carlsbad, in the Czech Republic. However, their main office was in New York, and they also had a decorating plant in Limoges. They were founded c.1883 and went on until c.1914.
These plates are in very good condition, particularly considering their age. There are no cracks, chips, nicks, or repairs that I can see.
All 11 plates are gorgeous and useable. Close examination of each plate reveals: 4 plates with almost no visible flaws or wear; 3 plates show a slight bit of wear (on approx. 1/2"-1") on gold band with diamond design; 4 plates show some wear on approx. 2"-3" of gold band with diamond design. There is only very slight wear here and there on other tiny areas of thinner gold bands.
I have described these plates to the best of my ability. I welcome any comments, questions, or corrections.
