DESCRIPTION: RARE ~ circa 1600's - 1700's ~ possibly German ~ CROSSBOW. This is guaranteed not to be a reproduction!

SIZE: 24" long by 17" across

SPECIAL FEATURES:

I can not find a lot of information on this antique crossbow. I was told by the previous owner that it is from the 1700's. She is an elderly lady who told me her grandparents had owned it before she acquired it.
Stock is wood and nicely carved with a unique design.
Bolt slot is as shown.
Fittings appear to be brass.
The bow is metal.
Has an iron sighting mechanism on the end.
Possibly German, but do not know for sure.

CONDITION: Please see my photos for overall condition. It is missing the trigger guard. Needs to be cleaned. I do not know what else it may be missing.

EMAIL INFORMATION RECEIVED: 11/8/09 ~ I just received the following information from a knowledgeable eBayer and thought I would share it with you.

"This Crossbow is late 18th/early 19th century. Possibly German (although not in the traditional style of a German hunting crossbow). In the absence of a makers name or mark 'European' would be the safest atribution. The stock looks to be good quality walnut with iron sighting mechanisms. Overall, this is really nice original piece. I have to say also that it is good to see a REAL antique crossbow on eBay."
