The Sound of the Hammer by C.C. Britsch, DJ, 1st Edition, Signed,  States First Edition, Cp 1963, Published by Vantage Press, Inc., New York. 264 clean tight pages, some coloring with age, signed by author on bottom of first blank page, some b&w illustrations. Brown cloth board cover with gold stamping on spine, square and tight, edge wear. Dj has some wear and soiling, edge tearing. For George Britsch, whose biography this is, was a builder (he called himself a carpenter) and his story is the story of the settlement and growth of German Township, Ohio. The Sound of the Hammer spans an amazing 88 years of a life begun in Switzerland, transplanted to a wild America when there were still Indians roaming the Midwest plains, and brought to its close in 1942, in a great prosperous country he had literally helped to build.
