Synopsis:

Writers refers to the glass ceiling that has traditionally separated women from leadership roles in the church. As women responded to God's call to church leadership, they became the ones to puncture this glass ceiling. The writers in this book, as well as many other women leaders, know the thoughts and feelings that go into coping with this ambiguous opportunity.

The title, She Has Done a Good Thing, is from Jesus. He spoke these words in response to people criticizing the woman who broke an alabaster jar of expensive perfume and poured it on Jesus' head. Jesus declared, "She has done a good thing. . . . Wherever the gospel is proclaimed to the whole world, what she has done will be told, in memory of her" (Mark 14:6-9, NAB).

In the last chapter of this book, Marilyn Miller writes, "Each of us, like the woman in the Bible story, is gifted with an alabaster jar. ... We can choose to measure that perfume out little by little, sharing it only with those we think will appreciate it. Or we can do as the woman in the Bible story, and offer it all to Christ."
