When this book first appeared in 1982, it introduced readers to Robert Irwin, the Los Angeles artist 'who one day got hooked on his own curiosity and decided to live it'. Now expanded to include six additional chapters and twenty-four pages of color plates, "Seeing Is Forgetting the Name of the Thing One Sees" chronicles three decades of conversation between Lawrence Weschler and light and space master Irwin. It surveys many of Irwin's site-conditioned projects - in particular the Central Gardens at the Getty Museum (the subject of an epic battle with the site's principal architect, Richard Meier) and the design that transformed an abandoned Hudson Valley factory into Dia's new Beacon campus - enhancing what many had already considered the best book ever on an artist.
Lawrence Weschler's many books include Mr. Wilson's Cabinet of Wonder, Vermeer in Bosnia, and Everything That Rises: A Book of Convergences, which won the 2007 National Book Critics Circle Award for Criticism.

All items are subject to a 2-4 working day handling period before they are dispatched. We will notify all customers via email once their order has shipped. Standard deliveries are made by AusPost from our Sydney warehouse. Once the order has shipped, deliveries to major cities generally take 1-5 working days to arrive. If you wish to return an item, please consult our Returns Policy as below:
- Please ensure that you contact Customer Services and request a Returns Authorisation before you send the order back to us. Returns which are not prearranged cannot be accepted.
- If you wish to request a return, please ensure you contact us within 10 business days of delivery.
- After the return has been authorised, the returned goods must be postmarked within 4 business days.
- Returns must be in resellable condition.
- Any returns are shipped at the customer's risk. The Nile does not take responsibility for items which are lost or damaged in transit.
- Accepted returns will be refunded by the method by which you paid.
