SAMSONITE BEIGE MARBLE TRAINCASE LUGGAGE, #4512 + KEY

Offered for your consideration is a VINTAGE MARBLED BEIGE SAMSONITE HARDCASE SUITCASE, STYLE 4512.

This suitcase measures 13 ¼” long x 8 ¾” tall (not including the handle).  The width tapers from 8 3/8” wide at the bottom up to 7 ¾” at the top.  It has the ‘Shwayder Bros. Inc. – Samsonite – Denver, Colorado’ emblem and there is one key.  The mirror in the lid has some black streaks and could easily be replaced.  The original plastic tray that sits in the top is included and undamaged.

When the lid swings up there is a creaking sound.  The hinges appear to be solid and may just need some lubricant.  The top covering of the left front latch has popped away from the inner part that connects with the knob on the lid.  It looks like a small piece of metal has broken out on the back side causing it to separate.  This doesn’t affect the locking feature and may be an easy repair.  Also, you will see in the picture that the handle on the top is sloping to the left.  The handle is securely attached and I expect a replacement could be substituted, if desired.

The inside has the tag marked ‘Samsonite Luggage Style 4512 – Shwayder Bros, Inc., Denver’.  There are minor scratches on the outer surface from prior use and a couple gouges in the edge molding.  The inside is clean with no tears or other damage.

In spite of the damage noted, this is still a very usable vintage suitcase.
