Genuine Civil War Scrapbook kept by what appears to be a Confederate sympathizer. Someone took an old ledger book and used it to paste in newspaper articles of Civil War battles mostly won by the South. There is also poetry, a section about the first settlers, maps, diagrams, woodblock prints from newspapers, postcards, obituaries, an original letter from the cousin of the bookmaker (not glued in), etc. We took random photos of pages. This is a thick book and is full of info, mostly from newspapers of the day. We counted 160 pages, front and back....only the last few pages of the book were left blank. We obtained it from a descendant of the scrapbook maker. According to her, the descendant lived in South Carolina during the Civil War. The ledger is in rough shape on the outside but 95% of the articles are intact; they are yellowed but completely readable. The dimensions of the book are: 12-1/2"x8"x1.75". This contains a wealth of information for Civil War collectors, historians, or reenactors. The following is some, but not all, of the article headlines contained in this book.....Mr. Bill Arp to Abraham Linkhorn, Battle at Bethel Church VA, Scriptural Vindication of Slavery-A Sermon, Battle of Vienna, The Gosport Navy Yard, The Vote on Secession in the VA Convention, The South Through British Spectacles, The Heroines of Virginia, American Topics Abroad, The Fight at Philippi; Correct and Reliable Details, The Harbor of Charleston (map), The Confederate States Revenue Flag, Fort Sumter on Fire, The Capture of Federal Troops in Texas, The Discovery of America, Members of the Pilgrim Society, Settlement of Pennsylvania, Expeditions of Sir Walter Raleigh, Fashions of the Time of the Revolution, The Habeas Corpus Case in Baltimore; Opinion of the Chief Justice of the US, Chief Justice Taney and Pres Lincoln, President Lincoln a Usurper, The Correspondence Between Mr. Secretary Seward and the Commissioners of the Confederate States, Pres.
