These hold the bulbs properly and tautly in place. You are bidding on the plastic commercial grade piece the slips under your shingle and the bulb is installed in. This fits both C7 or C9 lights. One photo shows a clip that is glued or screwed into place in the absence of a single, like for a flat roof flashing. Many people install these on flat roof year round, even changing the colors of the bulbs through out the year to keep creating a new look. Like red/white and blue during the 4th of July or even green or green and clear combinations during St. Patrick Day.
