Nickel plated steel shoe gauge, 14” long, made to measure your foot; heavy gauge steel with four knurled adjustment knobs, three sliding scale steel point stops, two levers to adjust the spring loaded height seat for the arch, measuring from 1 to 12+ shoe size with a separate horizontal arch gauge to 4”. Original dovetail box,  14 ½” x 3” x 6 ¾”.

This measuring tool was first produced in the early 20^th century. A trip to the shoe store always brought the salesmen out with a finely made gauge like this one to measure your foot accurately. Today they either don’t have one or they are simple marked stick versions.
