The majority of this package are items from the "old" Arlington Park before the facility burnt to the ground in a devastating fire in 1985. There are over twenty items offerred in this unique collection. They include: 4 Arlington Park calendars - years 1980 (1), 1981 (2) featuring a great picture of Spectacular Bid and 1982 (1) with a nice shot of John Henry. 3 magazines featuring Arlington: Turf & Sport Digest Dec. 1982 with a cover photo of the Arlington Million inaugural field of horses rounding the turn on the turf with the facility in the background, Chicago Sport Scene Aug/Sept 1981, Backstretch Magazine Oct/Nov/Dec 1981 with a photo of the inaugural Arlington Million and a story about the exciting race where John Henry nosed out The Bart in the final stride and a 1984 Arlington Park Media Guide. Other items in this package include a photo of the Black Stallion, The Tale of the Thoroughbred, a condition book from the 1981 racing season and brochures detailing the 1981 and 1982 seasons. There is also a one-of-a-kind brochure entitled Hope for the Future when the track's future was still in limbo and a diagram of 1986 Festival of Racing that was held after the facility had burnt down. Finally are 5 media credential lanyards that are given to publicity members that were covering the race. They are dated 2001, 2002 (2), 2008 & 2009.
