VINTAGE GILT/SOLID BRASS & MARBLE TROPHY TABLE LAMP

This auction is for an unusual column table light with a trophy cup on it. It measures approx 17.5ins (44.5cms) high, to the top of the light fitting, and the base is  6ins (15cms) wide.

It is fashioned  with a circular, stepped black marble base which gives way to a central reeded column with socles,top and bottom. Above this is a marble collar which in turn supports a double handled trophy cup, with the light fitting  above.

The marble is smooth and polished, the middle section, including the two socles, are solid brass and the trophy cup itself is a gilt plated metal, although I don't know what it is although it is gold in colour.

This light is currently wired for electricity but I am not an electrician and have not had it checked so please assume that the wiring is not in working order, just to be safe.

It is in good general condition with little sign of wear or use but there are areas on the trophy cup where the plating has worn through to the silver coloured undermetal. This is mainly confined to a couple of patches on the back of the body of the cup and a couple of larger areas at the back on the lid of the cup, and there are also lots of small little blisters over most of it. That said its not too noticeable, especially when turned to the wall, and the whole thing shines wonderfully and really looks the business It is also a heavy lamp, weighing in at over 2kgs, unwrapped.

A great table lamp that, with the right shade, would look stunning in the right setting.

 

All in all an attractive and unusual table lamp that would only enhance any table it was on!
