Essentials in Conducting, 1919, Karl W. Gehrkens

Nice little book on musical conducting.  "Essentials of Conducting" was written by Karl Wilson Gehrkens and published by Oliver Ditson Company, Philadelphia, 1919, 1845 pages.  Great book for anyone interested in conducting musical groups; apparently a much used college text in the early part of the last century. Author was a professor at Oberlin Conswervatory of Music.

Book is in good condition; dark maroon cloth cover with slightly faded gold lettering. Shows some signs of wear from normal usage. Probably used as a college text by several students and contains markings on many pages. Several student names written inside front cover: Vivian Foushee, Billy Estes, Charles Semonis, Elliot Alexander, Jo Ann Foushee....

Successful bidder must contact me within 3 days of the auction’s close. Please advise me if you are not using the mailing address specified on your Paypal account. If not using Paypal, please send me your name and shipping address so I can go ahead and prepare the item for shipping.  Payment due within 10 days of end of auction.  Kentucky residents must include 6% state sales tax in addition to bid price and shipping. 

All sales are considered final.  Items may be returned only when clearly not as described.  Bidders should read descriptions carefully and note that the pictures are part of this description and should be examined carefully. Please keep in mind that most of our items are old or used and a description that something is in great condition doesn’t mean it is new. Antique furniture pieces will always have small nicks or a possible blemish….they’re old! They’ve been used!  I will try to describe these items as clearly and honestly as I can, but they will rarely be perfect.  If you have any questions about an item or its condition, please contact me before you bid.

In the unlikely event that an item is clearly and unmistakable not as I have depicted it, the bid price will be refunded when the item is returned in the same condition as it left here. Shipping costs are not refunded. No other guarantees or warranties are implied.

Buyers pay postage, delivery confirmation, insurance if desired and a $1.00 packaging fee.  I pack most items myself and the packing fee covers the cost of bubble wrap, book mailers, or other materials.  For those items that are unusual in size, weight or shape, it might be necessary to have your package professionally wrapped in order to insure a safe arrival. Buyer will be notified and expected to pay this cost.  I normally ship on Thursdays and Fridays. Note that books are shipped by Media Mail and take longer to arrive, unless you request to be billed for shipping via some other rate. Insurance is not required but is recommended. What can’t be broken can be lost. Most of our items are shipped through the US Postal Service which does not normally “track” items. With Delivery Conformation, however, we can verify mailing and receipt dates. I will assist in tracking uninsured packages, but please remember that MY responsibility for delivery ends when your item is accepted by the carrier.
