  Description:

This oil lamp has truly been a difficult piece in determining the original maker. I have had some help from other eBay members and was told this piece was listed in a Dryden book as one of their forms. The clay is wrong, as many have stated.

One of the pottery/glass help board members had said that he thought it may be an earlier piece, possibly made by Monmouth. Later, Dryden may have purchased the mold from the original manufacturer.

Regardless, this is a very nice piece. It was made from two inverted bowls sealed with slip. There is a fleur-de-lis style pattern that runs around the middle-bottom of the piece.

This piece is quite large. It measures about 9" tall by 6 1/2" at its widest. It is not marked and has an unglazed white pottery base. It is in very good condition with no chips or cracks. There is pitting in the clay.
