The Bar/Line system for this Diablo Kite is the full depower 5th Line system, although you can detach the 5th line and operate the kite as high performance 4 line C-Kite.

This kite was used as my lightwind kite, but there were very few days that I needed it. This kite has only been flown 5 times and is still crispy. It has been well cared for, never stored wet, and never left in the sun. As you can see, even the bag is still crispy and new. There has never been any damage to this kite and thus there are no repairs.

I found the wind range of this kite to be about 10-25 knots of wind.

-The Diablo features our unique 5th Line Depower System! The trim adjustable 5th line bears no load under normal flight. Dynamic kite transitions can cause kite canopy and leading edge distortion that are now prevented with our Trim Adjustable 5th Line Depower System.

-This new bar is designed to be flown as a Variable Tension 5th Line bar. Unlike other kites which rely on the 5th line to hold the kite’s shape while in flight the Diablo flies fine without the 5th line. The true function of the 5th line comes only under highly powered turns. In these circumstances the kite might warp slightly, the wing tips squeezing in. The 5th Line, if properly trimmed (see below) will hold the kite’s shape under these conditions and will help prevent any warping under highly powered moves.

-Trim? 5th Line? What? The 5th line on the Diablo bar is a Variable Tension 5th Line. As you add or remove trim from the kite with the trim strap you will need to adjust the 5th line as well, by uncleating it, adjusting its length to match your trim and re-cleating it. The 5th line should always be tense but not under load. In this way it will prevent any warping of the kite under highly powered moves.

Leash?! Yes, you leash directly to the 5th line. So, yes, you can use it as an emergency depower if you ever want to self land the kite or pull the emergency brake.
