Report itemNeat Vintage Black Americana wind up toy. Ham and Sam ," The Minstrel Team".playing the dixie Blues. Very old wind up toy works well--piano player and banjo player move. Back of piano says," Strauss-The Ferdinand Strauss Corporation, New York, USA. pat. 1920. There also is a Stress Logo with a happy clown standing on the World globe. On the piano are nice five graphic pictures of black couples dancing Toy measures 6 1/2 inches long, 6 1/2 inches wide and 6 inches tall. Graphics are great. There is no rust on the toy. There is one problem however, The paint is faded. Only the paint is faded -the graphics are sharp and clear. This nice old toy was stored in the top floor of an old Victorian home ,on a window sill. It was out of the weather but not the sun. Many years of the Sun shining on it faded out the top paint on the two lively performers. Actually , the bottom of the piano player sitting down is "red" as is under his arms. Back of the legs of the dancer show a checked red and white pattern. The black colors in the Sun faded to a green color as seen in the photos. The idea to protect the nice toy from harm was fine, but someone forgot about the Sun coming in that far upstairs window. This toy may be a little faded ,but it still is a very nice piece for a Black Americana windup toy collection. Please look at photos for better description.
