1959 Japan Photo Album with Mechanical Music Box WORKS

This is lovely and very unique. It is a wooden cover photo album with a wind up mechanical music box that plays like the day it was made. I don't know what the song is but it sounds very oriental and it plays as soon as you open the album. The album is overall measurements, 11" long by 8" top to bottom by about 2 1/2" thick. The winder for the music box is on the outside edge, see photo two. The covers are made of lacquered wood with handpainted decoration on the front with 2 little chips of mother of pearl or nacra glued onto the top. These pieces of nacra are on the lower green part of the hill below the pagoda and also towards the lower left at the end of the bridge, I didn't even notice these until just now while listing. There is no glue residue anywhere else so I suppose those two little pieces are the only mother of pearl that were ever on this. The back cover is marked "Made in Japan". It has wooden feet attached to the end opposite the music box side so it sits level. There are two small screws in the bottom end towards the music box end that holds a bracket inside that holds the pages. Inside the front cover on the silver sparkle end paper is a hand written inscription that says "For the memories of a family who has given up so many happy memories ! Merry Christmas 1959 - Ida, Jay, & Boys". The fly sheet is made of the same paper that the end paper is. There are 13 heavy black almost cardstock pages for photos seperated by tissue paper. This album has never been used. It has never had pictures or anything else in it. Unfortunately the all of the pages, tissue paper, and end papers are browning badly and discolored. Probably from smoke since it comes from the era when smoking was popular but it could be from the wood and non acid free paper products too. Some of the tissue papers are folded over and creased. The fly sheet is wrinkled at the spine edge. The silk cords are purely decorative there is a bracket that the pages are screwed into. If you wanted to replace the pages with something different I think you could remove the screws and do so. There is no other damage. No chips or cracks and the mechanical music boxs plays a lovely song loud and clear when you open the cover. Buyer prepays + shipping.
