Great historical volume containing state by state representation for each Congree, and biographical sketches of Senators and Representatives. Names such as, "David "Davy" Crocket (died at the Alamo), Henry Clay, William Campbell Breckenridge (mentions his military service in the Confederate Army during the civil War, but does not cite Vice Presidency), John Quincy Adams, Theodore Roosevelt, and Thomas Jefferson. Lists the ebb and flow of Territories (on their way to statehood: Arizonia, Colorado, Dakota, Montana, New Mexico Utah, Washington, Wyoming (all circa 1877); later - Oklahoma, Hawaii, Porto Rico, Alaska, Phillippine Islands.

Also contains good B&W photographs of: East and West view of the Capital, the Senate Chambers, the Hll of the House of Representatives, Independence Hall (facing square and street).

Every effort is made to give a full and accurate picture of the condition of each book. There is an overall assessment of condition ("Like New", "Very Good", "Good+", "Good"", etc.), followed by a description of the dust jacket, where one is present, then all blemishes are recorded. The grade of condition accorded to any book is, of course, a matter of the appraiser's opinion, but "Like New", for instance, can be taken to mean that the book looks virtually as it did when first published. "Very Good" is a notch down from "Like New" and usually denotes that the book has been read by one careful owner over the age of fifty-five. "Good+" denotes that the book has been read by several careful persons of similar maturity. "Good" means what it says, volume is evenly worn and in tact. "FAIR" means not very good, "Poor" means that, except for antiquity and/or subject matter, the volume is suitable for a fireplace.
