I am auctioning this antique china tea set. I do not know the age or origin, but it was my mother-in-law's, and she was born in 1911. The bottoms of each piece (except lids) are stamped, "MADE IN JAPAN." The pieces are light green in color with a very glossy, shimmery finish. Handles, rims, and lids are trimmed in gold. There is a picture of two ladies and a child which appears on all pieces except saucers and lids. A delicate design is embellished in gold around the pictures.
There are 17 pieces in this set.
One Teapot 7-1/2 inches tall with lid
One Creamer and Sugar Bowl, each measuring 4 inches tall
Six Cups (2-1/4" tall & 2-1/8" in diameter)
Six Saucers measuring 4-1/2 inches in diameter.
Most of the pieces are in very good condition, considering age. EXCEPTIONS: The spout of the teapot has been broken off and glued back with a small piece missing. The very tip of the spout has a small chip. Please see the photos showing this damage. One cup has a chip in the rim, and its saucer has been broken and glued back. This same saucer also has a flaw where the color is missing. Please see the photos showing damage on this one cup and saucer. The remaining 5 cups and 5 saucers, as well as the creamer and sugar bowl and lids, do not have any cracks or chips and have not been repaired in any way.
Please email me if you have any questions. This set is being sold "as is" with no returns. I will very carefully wrap and double box these items for extra protection during shipment. I have an excellent reputation for my packaging of fine china and crystal items. You can confirm this on my feedback comments. Parcel Post will be the most economical method of shipment because I am estimating 8-9 pounds after I have packaged everything in a sturdy box. If you win this auction, please wait for an invoice with actual weight and postage calculated in fairness to both of us.
