I am offering a vintage B&H Filmo 70A 16mm movie camera. This is the first and original B&H home movie camera model. This particular one dates from the mid-1920's, and has a serial number in the low 48,000 range. In its early days, the 70A was a toy exclusively for the wealthy due to its high price Framing rate can be set to 8 or 16 frames/second. It has a single lens, which is a Taylor Hobson Cooke, 1", f/3.5. As shown, it winds by using a separate key, which is attached to the camera by a chain. Also included is its original hard leather carrying case and an empty 100' takeup reel. The motor and shutter seem to work OK. Cosmetic condition is probably average for a camera of this age, which is not close to mint. This camera, in more modern versions, was manufactured into the digital era. The Model 70 in all its versions had a reputation for extreme reliability under any conditions, and was widely used for television news and by the U. S. Military.for many years. This camera could still be used today if you wanted to do so, as 16mm film is still available. I am offering it as a good collectible or display piece. Due to its age, and the fact I have never actually used it to make movies, I must sell it as-is. |
