| Paul Rajon “Little Brother & Sister” Etching Paul Rajon The son of a Dijon barber, Paul Rajon moved to Paris as a young man and supported himself as a photographer while studying art techniques under Isidore-Alexandre-Augustin Pils at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. He also became friendly with the artists, Leon Gaucherel and Leopold Flameng, and learned to etch through their instructions. Paul Rajon exhibited his first work at the Paris Salon in 1865. After that date he was regularly commissioned to etch plates for such major French publishers as "L’Art" and the "Gazette des Beaux-Arts". In 1873 Paul Rajon visited London at the invitation of Felix Bracquemond. From that date on the artist lived and worked at least six months each year in the English capital. Paul Rajon received medals for his graphic art at the Paris Salon in 1869, 1870 and 1873 and at the Exposition Universelle in 1878.
