No collection of words can fairly convey the impact Father Martin had on the lives of millions of people around the world. After being ordained a priest at age 23, Father Martin aspired to serve God and others. He excelled as a teacher, in that his unique blend of humor, charisma, wit, and likeableness captured the interest of his audience. He eventually encountered a personal bout with alcoholism that led him to the Guest House, a rehabilitation center for clergymen, and later Alcoholics Anonymous. From that point, fueled by his enthusiasm for sobriety, he devoted his life to helping other alcoholics achieve sobriety. His natural talents as an educator proved to be invaluable. In a career that spanned more than 35 years, Father Martin inspired millions of individuals and families affected by addiction. His name and likeness will forever represent service, sacrifice, and healing. Father Martin's legacy in the treatment and recovery field can be sustained by your remembrance and support of his works.
