Nice small Victorian wooden keepsake box from the 1860's-1870's. It was originally purchased at a flea market [was in poor shape]. I stripped it and restored it a bit. There is something that allowed me to tell how old it is: its original owner wrote her name in ink pencil [Marinette Dupuy, (childish handwriting)] on the base of the box. Growing up, she painted the inside of the lid in bright green and wrote her name with a quill : Marinette Dupuy; the name of her town: Toulouse , and the year : '71 , for 1871. The hardware is original. I added the braid with charm and 2 small pieces of paper inside the lid to cover the extremities of 2 pieces of hardware. The box measures 4 " 2/8 X 2"2/8 X 2". s/h 3.50 for USA |
