The new BM-1 Series of pickups was designed with a lengthened sensor element to enable it work properly on the bridges of Bouzouki's, Mandola's, Flat-top Mandolins and Citterns that traditionally have a wider string spacing format than a standard mandolin. This series of pickups allows you to add a pickup system to your instrument without having to change the bridge or modify anything . Featuring Schatten's new MVC jack assembly (which simply attaches to the underside of the existing tailpiece), the BM-1 offers a real alternative to pickups that require bridge replacement.
The BM-1 pickup provides clean, clear sound reproduction. This pickup has been designed to operate properly and sound good without the use of a preamp when plugged into any 'normal' amp (guitar amp, bass amp, etc.). As with any pickup, the sound can be further enhanced and EQ'd with an outboard preamp. If you require the added ability to be able to plug directly into a P.A. or mixer on a regular or occasional basis, then you may wish to add the Schatten Preamp/DI (not included) to your pickup system.
Installation
The BM-1 sensor is small and light in weight. 1/4" wide by 2 1/4" in length and will not affect the acoustic sound of the instrument. It will work on virtually all of these instrument's bridges, adjustable or fixed, and only requires a small flat area on the bridge face for the sensor to adhere to. The pickup adheres to the bridge with VHB foam tape (included). The jack assembly simply adheres to the underside of the tailpiece. No modifications are required to the bridge or the tailpiece, and the system is completely removable.
The jack assembly, which nestles in right next to the tail piece, is only half an inch high and mounts to the tailpiece (not to the body) on most instruments. The MVC jack assembly, with Schatten's exclusive tailpiece mounting system, is much more secure and less likely to damage an instrument than the older 'clamp-on' type of jack assembly. The underside of the jack assembly has a protective felt backing so as not to scratch the surface of the instrument.

Expedited shipping is available at actual cost and will ship on the next shipping cycle for in-stock items. We can ship to a PO box or any valid street address. International Shipping
We can ship this item to almost anywhere in the world using the United States Postal Service (USPS). You can email us for an exact shipping quote to your country before you purchase this item.

USPS Express Mail Guaranteed (Global Express Guaranteed) is 2-3 business days including time in Customs, trackable and insured, typically $45-75 depending on country and weight of package. This service is available by request only, and is not available to all countries. Delivery is by Federal Express and may incur higher fees.
USPS Priority Mail to Canada - Trackable to major cities, insurance optional, about 1-2 weeks delivery depending on time spent in Customs. Items made in the U.S. will be declared as MADE IN USA for Customs purposes.
We do NOT ship via Fedex, UPS or DHL outside of the United States (except through USPS Express Mail Guaranteed).

Warranty and Returns
Warranty - The products we sell are brand new in the box and covered under the manufacturer's warranty, unless otherwise specified in the auction listing. We do not perform warranty repairs -- all warranty service and replacement is performed by the manufacturer. Buyer should contact the manufacturer of the product for warranty service during the warranty period. Warranty is valid only within the United States.
International Warranty - When an item is shipped outside of the United States, it is covered by the U.S. warranty only, and must be serviced in the United States. If the product is defective or requires warranty service, it must be sent back to us for service. This includes products that are defective on arrival, as they may have been damaged in transit or during installation. Buyer is responsible for the cost of shipping in both directions for warranty items. Please contact us for return information before returning any items for warranty service.
Returns - We accept returns of new, unopened items within 30 days of purchase. We do not accept returns of opened or installed items, or where an installation has been attempted. Returned items must be in brand new, resellable condition with all of the original parts and packaging intact and unmodified. A Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) is required for returns - all packages shipped to us without a return authorization will be refused.
