Things to know about RO systems:

1.) Price isn't everything! You'll see a wide variety of prices in your search for an RO system on Ebay and the internet.  You will need to compile a list of features and specifications for each unit you are considering purchasing in order to compare and make sense of the price being asked.  Of course, the system with the most features and best quality products (see #2 below) with the lowest price will be your winner!  If you feel that after a complete and thorough search you have found a comparable system to ours for less money, let us know, and we can try to beat it.

2) The Replacement Filters.  Our system's filters only need replaced every 12 months and the membrane every 36 months.  Other systems you'll see will need to replace their filters as early as 3 to 6 months.  This is significant, because over the life of the system you could end up spending a fortune in replacement filters!  You need to know what quality of equipment you are buying for the price you are paying!

3) Membrane Specs: Our membrane is a 50 gallon per day (GPD) filter. Since most families will never use 50 gallons of water per day, why is this number important? Because the tank stores 3.2 gallons of purified water, you could use it all at once, therefore it is important how fast the system refills the tank. Our system only take 1.5 hours to completely refill. Systems with a lower GPD rating will take longer to refill and will send more waste water down the drain.

4) Waste water ratio.  Our system has a waste water ratio of 1:3 depending on your water temperature and water pressure. Therefore, for every 3 gallons of pure water produced, 9 gallons of waste water will go down the drain. All R.O. units waste water, some more than others. Some companies claim to have "no waste water" units available. The reality is that they run the waste water line to your hot water heater. This causes the hot water heater to go out more quickly due to the extra buildup of contaminants.

5) Low water pressure. If you live in an area where your water pressure is low (< 40psi), you will need to purchase an additional pump or an RO with one included.  Our RO system is rated to work with water pressure between 40 - 85 psi.  If you think you need a pump, please call us at 513-519-3224 before purchasing this unit.

6) Systems with UV filters.  You will need to have an electrician install a GFI outlet under your sink in order to use this system. In our opinion, it is more advantageous to have the 6th stage of an RO system bring the pH level in the water back to a safe level to drink (Alkaline) than to have a UV light remove bacteria that the other filters may already have removed or aren't there in the first place. 

7) Save $400 to $800 per year.  If you stop buying bottled water and use an RO system to fill up a reusable canteen or stainless steel drinking bottle, you can save enough money to pay for your system in as little as 6 months.  Plus, you'll be avoiding the dangers of chemicals leaching into your water from plastic bottles and, at the same time, reducing landfill waste.
