Over time, I've learned some things that are important to be aware of. US Postal Service First Class Mail International can not be insured for loss or damage. It is a very popular way to ship, as the pricing is substantially lower than other options. In order to offer this as a shipping option, I've come up with the following policy as a seller: All items shipped First Class Mail International will include a fee ($1.10 US, included in shipping calculator as handling charge) for the purchase of a "Certificate of Mailing". This simply offers recorded proof that the package was presented, and accepted for shipping at a US Postal Service Counter. In the rare, unfortunate case of a missing item, I will offer a copy of this to you to help you know that the item was indeed mailed. I can not offer a refund, or take responsibility for damaged or lost items though. Please understand that as the buyer choosing this method of shipping, you are taking on these risks. As a seller, offering this unprotected method of shipping put me at risk for being told items had not arrived, but having no way of checking on the truth of these claims. After substantial loss in the form of refunds...I was tempted to not offer First Class International Shipping as an option any more. Reality though, was that most packages shipped this way were arriving just fine! Instead of forcing everyone to use more expensive methods of shipping, the above policy was put in place. Thank you for your understanding! For an additional $10.80 US, a First Class International package can be sent Registered Mail, which provides coverage for lost or damaged items up to $45.51 US Dollars in value. To be able to purchase insurance for a package with a higher value, or for all packages weighing over 4 pounds, Priority Mail International must be used.
