The spirit charm and nostalgia of vintage Christmas is arriving early this year! I always prefer to avoid the rush, as the holidays inch closer and closer. After a recent trip and the discovery of a huge inventory of vintage Christmas items from every category imaginable, I am releasing a varied assortment of treasured holiday items. From the dining table to the Christmas tree, under the tree, mantel and everywhere in between!
Each attic in the array of estate sales that I attended, seemed to tell a story of Christmas' past and the families that cherished these items and their traditions of celebration that spanned many, many decades. As I prepared the many listings of these time worn treasures, it felt like a trip down Christmas memory lane and a far simpler era long ago. I am pleased to offer these vintage Christmas items at auction, so that they may find a place of distinction in a collection, or a position in a vintage holiday decorating and entertaining themed decor so that the glow of Christmas past can continue to evoke memories and new traditions for many, many more Christmas' to come.
Offered for auction is a very unique LARGE VINTAGE CHRISTMAS TREE SKIRT with printed SCANDINAVIAN designs on thick BURLAP fabric. The tree skirt measures a very generous 50" in DIAMETER, has a bound finished edge and slit opening at the back. The bold printed designs include a red and dotted extreme perimeter edge, while a large repeating circle of FIR BOUGHS, TIPPED in SNOW (symbolizes the HOLY TREE OF PEACE, HOPE and ENDLESS LIFE as it is an EVERGREEN), WOVEN BRAIDED PAPER HEART ORNAMENTS, which is a custom dating back to the early 18th century. WHITE LIT CANDLES in CLIP ON TREE ORNAMENTS motifs. WHITE SNOWFLAKES are dotted throughout the center and in the ringed design.
Overall the vintage tree skirt is in SUPERIOR CONDITION. The bold printed graphics have stayed vibrant atop the burlap surface. There were NO HOLES or tears. I did note some small "dots" on the area of the tree skirt that is to the extreme center, which was likely closest to the trunk of Christmas trees past. These dots DO NOT affect the display or usage and would not even show once the skirt is placed beneath the tree.
An OUTSTANDING example of Vintage Christmas. There is an elegance and simplicity to the nostalgic graphics and display.
Also included is a small burlap TABLE RUNNER with printed little GNOME ELVES JULENISSE measuring: 24" LONG x 9" WIDE and is in EXCELLENT CONDITION.
