ANTIQUE MINIATURE BOOK OF COMMON PRAYER - STERLING 1907 This is an antique miniature edition of "The Book of Common Prayer" bound in leather with Sterling Silver front cover. The embossed silver cover shows five angels surrounded by clouds. It is hallmarked for Birmingham, 1907 and has the maker's mark C&G Ltd. The prayer book was printed by Eyre and Spottiswoode, King's Printers, London. It has 701 pages with gilded edges, a Table of Contents page, and although the Title Page is missing the remaining pages are intact and in good, clean condition. The silver cover is in good condition apart from a few dents and is a little loose from the spine at the bottom. The leather binding on the spine and the back have signs of wear, as you would expect to find on an antique of this age. There is also what looks like a dab of white paint on the back cover, and some wear to the gilding on the pages. On the front fly leaf is the inscription 'To Laura With Best Love & Sincere Good Wishes From Nellie. Sept 21st 08'. This lovely little, antique book measures approximately 2 1/4"x 1 3/4"x 3/4" and is in good overall condition considering it is over 100 years old. |
