You are bidding on two Miners Tags in sequence : LAMP 365 and LAMP 366. This type of tag was used in the underground Coal mines in Western PA. The miners attached the tag when they went underground & took it off when they came out. If there was a tag left unaccounted for at the end of a shift, it usually meant the miner was missing underground.... Measures approx. 2" X 1 1/2" and is made from solid copper. I've cleaned some of the copper and as you can see these tags were used. Each tag weighs about 1 oz. These tags were purchased in Jefferson County, Pa approx. 25 miles from Kittanning from a local resident. He told me they were from the Allegheny River Mining Company, specifically from the CADOGAN Mine in the early 1900's. The mines were located along the main lines of the Pittsburg and Shawmut Railroad. Freeport, was another town where the D and E seams were mined by this same company. This is a nice item to add to any mining collection or miners lamp collection. Shipping is $3.95 in the USA. Check out my other items! |
