Canon AL-1-Sears Camera Lens 85mm-Vivitar 40D flash SLR

1 - Canon AL-1 35mm SLR- Camera is in used condition. Not sure if camera works properly. I put batteries in it and got the light to go on but could not get it to snap a picture. I suspect there is some film stuck in the camera as well. I suppose if you have some working knowledge of this and similar cameras you could troubleshoot this and have it working without much trouble. Only other issue is the battery cover does not seem to click closed. Not sure if  I am doing it right or not but it may need a replacement part to fix or some tape as that what was there when the camera was recently given to me. 

1 - Sears Multicoated 1:3.5-4.5 f=28-85mm 620 No. 40729583 Auto Zoom camera lens - Lens has smooth operation and does not appear to have any issues. Most likely the best part of this auction.

1 - Vivitar 40d auto/bounce flash unit - it powers up but I cannot test the flash because I could not get the camera to snap a picture. My best guess is that the flash works just fine.
