Franklin Mint/Armour 1:48 Scale F4F-4 Wildcat VF-41

 Up for sale is a Franklin Mint/Armour Collection 1:48 scale Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat diecast model.  This aircraft is painted as a Wildcat that flew off of the carrier USS Ranger (CV-4) with VF-41 in the summer of 1942. It features one of the most beautiful paint schemes that Wildcats ever wore, an early war pattern with blue on the upper surfaces, white on the lower, red circles at the center of the national insignia, and a distinctive red and white striped rudder.  

The model is in near mint condition, and features a removable canopy with a detailed cockpit interior. The only change I have made is to paint the gunsight a gunmetal silver color (instead of the inaccurate blue it came in). Most of the original packaging is included, but I have replaced the usual FM/A metal retaining screw in the bottom with some clear tape on the styrofoam to help keep the model secure (I did not want to put in the retaining screw again for fear of damaging the underside of the model). The box is in good condition with only minor shelf wear, and I have included the certificate of authenticity in its original envelope.  Item is sold as is, and all sales are final.  Thanks for looking!
