Up for bid here is the 1927 APBA Baseball Season Card Set.

Complete set of 16 teams, 25 players per team for a total of 400 cards. 

Roster/lineup sheet included

Master Game symbols included

Lineup sheet and MGS are in very fine condition.

Most of the cards are in NM to Mint condition. 

The AL cards have had the Master Game symbols written on them. The Yankees and the A’s have had stats also written on them.

The Team envelopes are in very good condition. All have had the Year written on the cover. The Yankees and A’s have their record, and finishing place written on the cover.

Any discussion of the 1927 baseball season must, unquestionably, begin with the New York Yankees. The Bronx Bombers led their league in hitting, slugging, and earned run average.

New York boasted the league leader in doubles (Lou Gehrig), the top two in triples (earl Combs and Gehrig) and the top three in homers (Babe Ruth, Gehrig, and Tony Lazzeri) Ruth and Gehrig finished 1-2 respectively in runs, walks, and slugging, while Ruth trailed only Gehrig in RBI and total bases.

As for pitchers, Wilcy Moore, Waite Hoyt, and Urban Shocker posted the three best ERA’s in the AL, and Hoyt tied for the league\e lead in wins.

Yankee domination of the AL in 1927 was nearly complete and, not surprisingly, New York blew out Pittsburgh in a short 4-game World Series.

In the National League the Pirates outlasted the Cards by 11/2 games and the Cubs by 2, clinching the pennant on the very last day of the season. The Pirates carried a team batting avg. of .305 led by Paul Waner’s .380 Other .300 hitters included: Paul’s’ brother Lloyd, Pie Traynor, Joe Harris, Clyde Barnhart, Kiki Cuyler, and George Grantham.
