We are please to offer for sale this Antique Wrought Iron Swivel Table Grease/Fat Lamp.  It is 8 ¾ inches high and 4 inches across the base.

My old friend Bill Mertsch called this early fat lamp a “Swinging Betty Lamp” and I really liked this quaint old term so I purchased it for our collection; which we are now after many years selling here on E-bay.  So watch for more items.

We believe the hold in the base was used to nail the lamp to a wooden base or table.   This example is rather stylish in form and looks great in an early American setting.  We like the twisted shaft on this piece.  We date it to the 1790 to 1820 period.

Buyer pays actual USPS Priority shipping to your Postal Zone.

On Nov-08-09 at 13:44:15 PST, seller added the following information:

We have been told by a collector that another use for the hole in the base is to  attatch it to the wall as a "Gimbal" lamp for use in a ship.
