IDENTIFICATION OF FIRST EDITIONS by BILL McBRIDE This guide lists the methods that past and present
English-language PUBLISHERS use to identify First Editions of their Hardbound
and Paperback books. Small in size, 4" by 6", I carry mine around in my
purse enclosed in a sandwich size Zip-Lock bag. This makes it handy to refer to at Auctions, Estate Sales, Friends of the Library and Garage Sales.
This is the 1995 Edition, compiled by Bill
McBride.
It is in New Condition and the only flaw I can find
is a tiny tear at the end of the spine that looks
to be cause by the paper cutter. Why this Guide?
Acquisition of books rarely takes place in the comfort of your own
reference library. Typically, you are at a book sale, in a shop, at an auction
or in the home of someone offering books for sale equip the buyer with as much
knowledge as possible for these in the field situations. This guide in not intended to supplant the full scale bibliography of any
author's works. What this guide can do is help do is help collectors, dealers,
librarians, auctioneers, indeed anyone buying or selling books, to identify
more accurately the goods at hand. |
