Canon 1.2 Lens for Leica M3 M4 M5 M6 M7 M8 Hexar Zeiss

You are looking at a Canon FL 55mm f1.2 Lens modified to Leica M mount, focus from infinity to 2.5 feet, meter and rangefinder coupled accurately. It is needless to say this 55f1.2 lens performs even better than the 50f1.2 Canon L39 screw mount lens, and is comparable to the Leitz 50f1.2 Noctilux but not the price.

Some member may think this is a 55mm lens and not 50mm but in fact all 50mm lens are not exactly 50mm. 50mm Elmar runs from 51.3mm to 53.75mm, Nikon is 53mm, Canon and others even greater tolerance. For this 55mm lens that is up for auction, I have check it very carefully and can confirm it matches the rangefinder coupling of all Leica M cameras I have from infinity to 2.5 feet and forms correct images on the ground glass.

This lens is very clean inside out with minor wear mainly on focus collar, focus control is silky smooth, filter threads are perfect. Aperture control is also silky smooth, blades are clean and free from any oil, click stops are positive. The M lens mount is original from Leica.

Looking at the lens with bare eyes, all lens elements are clear, there is no active fungus, no scratch, no cleaning mark, no fog, no hase, no bubble. If someone look at the lens real close against a 60 watts light bulb and rotate the lens then he might find one to two tiny 1mm or 2mm dry traces of old fungus that were neglected long long ago only because that was at the extreme edges of front element outside surface coating, not affecting anything of course. This lens performs very well under all lighting conditions, is much less bulky than a Canon 0.95 or a Leitz 50f1.0 Noctilux, it does not look big even when mounted on Bessa or R-D1, so is a joy to handle.
