Signed Thonet Bentwood Wall Hat & Coat Rack Estate Item

Measuring 26¾ long, this bentwood 4 “S” hook coat & hat rack bears its original “THONET” paper label on the back. Additionally, “THONET” is impressed into the back above the label which also contains the text “WIEN” and more German text on the bottom lower left corner edge of the label.

The 4 “S” hooks are about 9” long at its broadest points. They are double screw mounted to a (2 ½” x ¾” x 26 ¾”) wood bar with a gentle concave center that is tapered and curved at the left and right side ends.

The unit is in good condition, free of any chips, cracks, splits or repairs. The back has some white paint around the edges and spots near the screw holes where the unit wall was attached to a painted surface.

Most of the label is present, but it is darkened with age and has some missing pieces.

This estate piece is a rare find and a handsomely styled functional unit that appears to be circa the first quarter of the 1900s.
