Quote from inner flap of dust jacket:  ...THEY CALLED HIM CHAMP is the biography of one of the most colorful personalities in American life during the decades from the 1920's through the 1940's.  Professional boxer, fight manager, restaurateur, gambler, treasure hunter, owner of a stable of horses, friend of politicans, gangsters and writers, Champ Segal has lived a life that is truly fantastic.  More tall tales have been spun about Champ Segal by the boys on Broadway, at Madison Square Garden, Jamaica, Belmont and Saratoga, than of any other personality.  All of them are in this book.  The story of Champ Segal's adventures in the ring, at the track, in politics, his run-ins with the police and with Boxing and Racing Commissioners, his search for hidden treasure, ending with the widely-publicized trial for "high mutiny on the high seas" - and of many other adventures in the underworld and outerworld of American life - reads like fiction.  But it is all true, and it makes for one of the most daring, revealing and exciting books about the world of sports, gambling, gangsters and politicians ever written. ...

Book is in fair to good used condition with moderate to heavy signs of wear, age, handling and storage.  Fair due to heavy wear, age-yellowing, chips and tears to dust jacket.  Book has age-yellowing to pages and normal scuffs, rubs and dents to covers.  Binding is good and I have found no pages to be loose or missing.
