"Nicolo Sturiano - H. Hargrove" Born in 1941, Nicolo Sturiano grew up in a small town just outside of Palermo, Italy. A graduate of the Wine Institute of Marsala, he came to the United States in 1964 to pursue his chosen profession. Hired as a winemaker for a small vineyard in upstate New York, this is where Sturiano first fell in love with the American landscape. Literally awestruck by the simple elegance and grace of the countryside, he started painting. The owners of the winery were so impressed with what they saw, they asked Sturiano to paint for the tasting room. Before long, the art became much more popular than the wine and the artist soon found himself in a studio in Greenwich Village, New York City. The rest, as they say, is history."
