This old 1914 hardcover (clothbound) book is titled " A Christmas Carol in Prose...Being a Ghost Story of Christmas " by Charles Dickens...." H.S. Nichols New York."........" Copyright, 1914, by H.S. Nichols." This book is the 1st edition (thus) which was made specifically to be an exact replica of the original edition. It states in an " Indorsement" ...." This is a genuine copy of my fac-simile edition of the excessively rare and almost unobtainable earliest issue of the original edition, to which has been prefixed an introduction and bibliograpical data." After the " Introduction" pages, it begins whole as a replica of the original, beginning with its title page of publisher.. " London....Chapman & Hall, 186, Strand, " and is complete with its illustrations ; some in color. Book Measurements : 4 3/8" x 6 5/8", with 166 pages, not including advertising pages in back of book. Book is in good condition, with exception of missing front blank endpaper, some soiling to fabric covers, and very light water marks along edges of approx. ten pages in back of book. All other pages look great, are beige/off-white, and none have any creasing, tears, or writings. All edges gilt. Pages are tightly bound to spine. Hinges have no separation ; are tight.  Endpapers/pastedowns have a bit of age spotting. Coverboards are straight/square. Minimal wear/tear to fabric covers. Gilt title on front board looks good ; title on spine is readable ; somewhat faded. Corners lightly bumped.
