This antique children’s book measures approximately 5 inches
wide by 6 inches tall.It is bound in
red stamped cloth with gilt lettering and decoration on its front cover and
spine.The book contains 156 numbered
pages plus ads.The contents pages call
for eight illustrations (including frontispiece and decorative title page). All of these illustrations have been checked
and are present. The book also contains
a couple of extra black and white vignette illustrations within the text. This is a "bootstraps" morality tale for children, very popular among 19th century readers.
This book has weak hinges and a cocked binding. It has interior soil and foxing. There is chipping to its spine cloth at head

charming.We would recommend this item
to collectors on middle 19th century children’s books.
