 for "Dobro" style spider bridge resonator instruments

    

The RG-03 is the 'original' center mount pickup for resonator guitars.

   NEW  The RG-03 is now available in three passive models and one active preamped model with  a preamp to meet all your playing needs.

     In active format, the RG-03A now comes with our latest generation of Artist II endpin jack preamp featuring multiple power capability.

This means that the preamp can be run from an onboard 9 volt battery, or from Phantom Power (up to 48 volts dc), or from an outboard battery box.

So, the choice is yours: "Do I put a battery in there.....or don't I?"

   
  It took several years to accomplish but we finally produced a resonator guitar pickup that met our exacting standards. For faithful sound reproduction, ease of installation, great anti-feedback characteristics, and so much more.

     Until we designed the RG-03, all resonator pickups were either stuck onto the side of the cone (which invariably caused feedback issues) or else required the replacement of large parts of the resonator assembly (not to mention a lot of expense and probable modification to the instrument). There also were some magnetic pickups that were meant to fit under the strings at the end of the fingerboard -  but these were never particularly acoustic sounding.

The design of the RG-03 mounts the piezo element directly on center on the underside of the resonator cone on 'Dobro' style instruments. This placement of the piezo unit is the best for sound and the best for feedback resistance. We know this because it is our design. Our competitor knows this as well because in bringing out their own reso pickup, they copied most of ours.


RG-03 Std and RG-03 Pro

 The low profile jack assembly is only 1/2" high and may be mounted either from a thin stand-off plate that adheres securely to the area under the tailpiece or may be mounted directly to the top with 3M VHB tape.

     The RG-03 Pro with volume control provides a non-invasive means of putting an output jack assembly on a reso without damage.

A word about 'passive' and 'active' pickups:

     Players who will be plugging directly into a 'normal' guitar amp will find that they get great sound quality from the RG-03 in passive form. No preamp should be required in this situation.

     Players who must plug directly into a mixing board will most likely need to preamp their signal in order to match up with what most mixers require in terms of impedance and signal strength.

     If you wish to have the electronics on board the instrument then you should be purchasing the 'A' or Active model, the RG-03A.

     Should you require the preamp but don't want to put it inside your reso then you should purchase the RG-03 in passive format and add one of our outboard Preamp/DI units to your pickup system.

     If you  already own an outboard guitar preamp, the RG-03 in passive format  should work properly with just about anything you might have.
