Better Day Dress
Civil War Era
Great Mix and Match Pieces
This gown would be suitable for Civil War events, Dickens Events, SASS(Single Action Shooting Society), Renaissance Faires, and Old West or Prarie Impressions.
The 2 piece gown is made of a drapery weight dupioni silk in a plaid of wine, purple, and tangaringe. It has a touch of black and pearl. It is accented with win fabric covered buttons and a neutral fringe.
The bodice has a lovely jewel neckline, with large pagoda sleeves. The sleeves have been trimmed with a row of fringe. It has a slight peplum effect to its hemline. The peplum type hemline hangs gracefully over the skirt and has been trimmed with matching fringe, for emphasis. It is fully lined and has a button closure down the front with wine fabric covered buttons.
The skirt is 180+ inches around. It has been accented with a row of matching wine braid along the hemline. We turned this plaid sideways to get a more vertically oriented plaid. Since the selvage is the strongest part of the fabric, we used for the hem and accented it with wine braid to help protect it. It has a pleated waist set onto a matching waistband. It closes in the back with a hook and eye closure. It is about 43 inches long hemmed.
The gown itself measures:
waist: 54 inches
bust: 60 inches
Please use bust measurements at the fullest part of your bust, not bra band size.

We are a historical sutlery. We carry both fitted attire that are period correct and adjustable items that have the appearance of the era. Our fitted attire is historically correct. Our adjustable items have the look and feel of the era, but are not always the correct fabric for the period such as rayon, poly, etc, and they are adjustable in fit, therefore; not historically correct.
