This Windsor chair was faithfully re-produced in a furniture factory in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1940. Almost 70 years old!!! It offers graceful shaping with applied knuckles, cut out handhold's on ring turned styles, shaped seat on splayed base. It has been in our family since it was purchased in 1940. 33-1/2" tall, 25" deep, 25-1/2" from arm outside to arm. The oak plank seat is 15" deep and 21-1/2" wide with a wonderful knot area and great oak graining!. Reproduction Windsor chairs sell in the $1,000.00 range and I have priced this one very low. The last two photos show the applied knuckle first with the top view and then from the bottom showing the craftsmanship in the details of this wonderful chair. It has use and age related traces as found on all old furniture of this type. Nothing replaced, all original. Photos of any area of the chair will be gladly provided upon request. The American Windsor evolved from seating created in the 17th century England, not far from the town Windsor, Berkshire. An original sack-back Windsor is valued at over $6,000.00. They were made of a mix of woods and painted to use in the garden but soon became popular for use in kitchens and dining rooms in America.
