1927-28 LINCOLN GREYHOUND HOOD ORNAMENT













Offered is a stunning original 1927-28 Lincoln Greyhound hood ornament mounted on a hand-crafted cherry wood base.  Originally manufactured by Gorham Silver Company, the graceful form of the greyhound became symbolic of Lincoln motorcars of the late twenties and thirties.   

This particular example retains excellent original plating and a natural patina with some wear and brassing, and minor scratches on the top portion of the cap commensurate with age.  The marking "Lincoln Motor Company" is plainly visible on the rear of the brass base and the detail is superb.  There are no hairline cracks or breaks anywhere.  

The Lincoln Greyhound is arguably one of the finest works of art ever to grace a motorcar, and this example will make an exceptional addition to any mascot collection .
