VICTOREEN CDV-700 MODEL 6B GEIGER COUNTER WORKS GOOD!!

A WORKING SOUVENIR OF THE COLD WAR!! This is a vintage VICTOREEN CDV-700 Model 6B Geiger Counter originally manufactured in Cleveland, Ohio in 1962 for Civil Defense when the Americans lived in fear of the former Soviet Union dropping the atomic bomb. The unit pictured is the exact one you will receive. It is in EXCELLENT CONDITION (SEE PHOTO) for it's age! It has been stored properly and shows no internal rust. It has a couple spots of yellow paint but this in no way affects the operability of the meter. It was calibrated in a laboratory but the calibration expired in April, 2009. It  is a rugged unit and works well. I am not selling this unit as a calibrated meter. It has a Beta check source on the side of the meter. It maxes out on the x 1 scale open window using the check source on the side of the meter. It measures gamma radiation and detects beta radiation (by opening the probe window) It has 3 ranges (X1, X10 & X100). Detection range is from natural background to 50 mR/hr. This meter operates using four "D" Cell batteries. Batteries not included. Includes the meter unit, geiger probe, earphone, original headset connector (often missing and hard to find), original shoulder carrying strap,and the original Instruction and Maintenance Manual (16 pages)!  Batteries (it uses 4 D-cells) are not included.
