5 3/4 in. wing span (1:144th scale) Savoia Marchetti SM.79 Sparviero (Sparrowhawk) metal Diecast airplane w/stand, Regia Auronautica Italiana (Royal Italian Air Force), 253th Squadriglia of the 104th Gruppo Aerosilurante (Torpedo Bomber Group) base at Decimommanu (Sardinia) in June of 1943, during World War II, MIB (Mint In Blistercard). This aircraft was piloted by Lieutenant Enrico Marescalchi. Altaya, of France, have recaptured this immortal plane even down to the official markings. A really nice and unique torpedo bomber model. The landing gear is installed to display the model "on the ground" or to be displayed "in flight", with the landing gear extended, on the handsome plastic display stand that is included. The plastic propellers turn freely over metal shafts and the wheels do not turn on this die-cast aircraft. The model has a high metal content, only the tailplanes and small components are made of plastic. This is not a toy; it is a wonderful Collector's model.
