Doomed to Die
Length: 67 Minutes | Produced:1940

An entertaining blend of comedy and mystery, Doomed to Die stars the iconic Boris Karloff (Frankenstein) in a hilarious whodunit. In what would certainly be poor taste by todays standards, Karloff appears as a stereotypical Asian man whos a world renowned detective, Mr. Wong. Though the film alternates between being intentionally and unintentionally funny, Karloff is a joy to watch throughout, clearly enjoying the role. While trying to unravel the enigma of who killed a wealthy shipping magnate, Karloff sifts through many amusing characters and clues, utilizing goofy secret detective tricks along the way. Humorous because for its cast, dated racism, and ridiculous situations, Doomed to Die is an enjoyable good time.
