PORCELAIN GUARDIAN LIONS PRE-DATE 1940.
They are in excellent condition for their age!

Chinese Foo "FU" DOGS or "FU" LIONS are beasts of Chinese folk-religion.  Pairs of fu lions are often found guarding the gateways of Buddhist temples, private homes , gardens and are often displayed in bedrooms and living rooms to  chase away demons evil spirits and bad dreams, The earliest traditions of fu-dog iconography date from the Han Dynasty (208 BC to 211 AD.)
